01 "An Act expressing the state's policy with respect to sobriety."                                                        
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 47.37.010 is amended to read:                                                                       
04  Sec. 47.37.010.  DECLARATION OF POLICY.  It is the policy of the state                                               
05 to recognize, appreciate, and reinforce the example set by its citizens who lead,                                       
06 believe in, and support a life of sobriety.  It is also the policy of the state that                                 
07 alcoholics and intoxicated persons should not be criminally prosecuted for their                                        
08 consumption of alcoholic beverages and that they should be afforded a continuum of                                      
09 treatment that can introduce them to, and help them learn, new life skills and                                         
10 social skills that would be useful to them in attaining and maintaining [SO THEY                                       
11 MAY LEAD] normal lives as productive members of society.
