00HOUSE BILL NO. 302                                                                                                      
01 "An Act relating to the release of runaway minors from licensed programs for                                            
02 runaway minors and from runaway minor shelters."                                                                        
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 47.10 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                   
05  Sec. 47.10.325.  RELEASE OF MINOR.  The director of a program for                                                     
06 runaway minors operated under AS 47.10.300 - 47.10.390 may release a minor who                                          
07 is present in the program only to the custody of                                                                        
08   (1)  the minor's legal custodian;                                                                                    
09   (2)  a law enforcement agency; or                                                                                    
10   (3)  the department.                                                                                                 
11    * Sec. 2.  AS 47.10.330(b) is amended to read:                                                                       
12  (b)  The director of a program for runaway minors shall promptly notify a                                             
13 minor's legal custodian if the minor is released from the program into the custody of                                   
14 a law enforcement agency under AS 47.10.325(2) or the department under                                                 



01 AS 47.10.325(3) [PERSON OTHER THAN THE LEGAL CUSTODIAN OR A                                                            
02 PERSON REPRESENTING THE LEGAL CUSTODIAN].                                                                               
03    * Sec. 3.  AS 47.10.394 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                               
04  (c)  The provider of a shelter for runaway minors operated under AS 47.10.392                                         
05 - 47.10.399 may release a minor who is present in the shelter only to the custody of                                    
06   (1)  the minor's legal custodian;                                                                                    
07   (2)  a law enforcement agency; or                                                                                    
08   (3)  the department.
