01 "An Act relating to preferred provider agreements offered by hospital or medical                                        
02 service corporations."                                                                                                  
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS  21.87 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                  
05  Sec. 21.87.135.  PREFERRED PROVIDER PROGRAMS.  A hospital or                                                          
06 medical service corporation may offer a preferred provider service agreement to a                                       
07 provider or hospital licensed in this state.  A provider or hospital willing to meet the                                
08 terms and conditions of the preferred provider service agreement may not be excluded                                    
09 from treatment as a preferred provider.  A subscriber's contract containing a preferred                                 
10 provider program must provide for payment for a service provided by a nonpreferred                                      
11 provider or hospital.
