01 "An Act relating to civil liability of volunteer school crossing guards; and                                            
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 09.65 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                   
05  Sec. 09.65.094.  CIVIL LIABILITY OF VOLUNTEER CROSSING GUARD.                                                         
06 A person who provides volunteer crossing guard services to assist students to reach or                                  
07 depart from a public school may not be held civilly liable for damages resulting from                                   
08 an act or omission in performing the crossing guard services, unless the act or                                         
09 omission constitutes gross negligence, recklessness, or intentional misconduct.  In this                                
10 section, "volunteer" means a person who does not receive monetary compensation for                                      
11 performing services.                                                                                                    
12    * Sec. 2.  This Act applies to a claim for relief that accrues on or after the effective date                        
13 of this Act.                                                                                                            
14    *  Sec. 3.   This Act takes effect July 1, 1995.
