00HOUSE BILL NO. 162 01 "An Act related to the authority of certain beverage dispensary licensees to stock 02 alcoholic beverages in guest rooms." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. FINDING AND PURPOSE. The legislature finds that international and 05 domestic travelers are accustomed to receiving hospitality services in their rooms for business 06 entertainment and personal enjoyment. The purpose of this Act is to enhance the 07 accommodations and services available to travelers visiting Alaska. 08 * Sec. 2. AS 04.11.090 is amended by adding a new subsection to read: 09  (g) A holder of a beverage dispensary license issued to a hotel, motel, resort, 10 or similar business that caters to the traveling public may stock alcoholic beverages 11 in guest rooms, for sale and consumption in the guest room only, if authorized by the 12 board. The board may not authorize the stocking of alcoholic beverages in guest 13 rooms unless the holder of the beverage dispensary license also has a minimum 14 number of rental rooms as required under AS 04.11.400(d)(1). 01 stocked under this subsection shall be stored in a refrigerated unit using a key or 02 combination lock system within the guest room. Except for the licensee, or an agent 03 or employee of the licensee, a key or combination enabling a person to obtain 04 alcoholic beverages stocked in a guest room may only be provided to a guest who 05 occupies the room and who is 21 years of age or older.
