00SENATE JOINT RESOLUTION NO. 4 01 Proposing an amendment to the Constitution of the State of Alaska relating to 02 the duration of a regular session. 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. Article II, sec. 8, Constitution of the State of Alaska is amended to read: 05  SECTION 8. REGULAR SESSIONS. The legislature shall convene in regular 06 session each year on the fourth Monday in January, but the month and day may be 07 changed by law. Each regular session is limited to ninety [THE LEGISLATURE 08 SHALL ADJOURN FROM REGULAR SESSION NO LATER THAN ONE 09 HUNDRED TWENTY] consecutive calendar days [FROM THE DATE IT 10 CONVENES] except that a regular session may be extended once for up to ten 11 consecutive calendar days. An extension of the regular session requires the affirmative 12 vote of at least two-thirds of the membership of each house of the legislature. The 13 legislature shall adopt as part of the uniform rules of procedure deadlines for 14 scheduling session work not inconsistent with provisions controlling the length of the

01 session. 02 * Sec. 2. The amendment proposed by this resolution shall be placed before the voters of 03 the state at the next general election in conformity with art. XIII, sec. 1, Constitution of the 04 State of Alaska, and the election laws of the state.
