01 "An Act relating to transplantation of elk; and providing for an effective date."                                       
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  The Department of Fish and Game shall, within three years from the effective                           
04 date of this Act, transplant not fewer than 75 elk nor more than 100 elk, to each of the                                
05 following locations in Southeast Alaska:  Kruzof Island, Gravina Island, Cleveland Peninsula,                           
06 and Prince of Wales Island.  These elk may not be taken from Afognak Island.  The                                       
07 department shall utilize the services of volunteers, organizations, and groups to accomplish                            
08 this transplanting whenever possible.  The department shall accord a priority to each of the                            
09 elk transplants required under this section corresponding to the order in which each location                           
10 is listed in this section.                                                                                              
11    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect upon the effective date of an Act passed by the Eighteenth                          
12 Alaska State Legislature and enacted into law that makes an appropriation for the                                       
13 transplantation of elk to Kruzof Island, Gravina Island, Cleveland Peninsula, and Prince of                             
14 Wales Island.
