00SENATE CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 407(FIN) am S 01 "An Act relating to issuance of commemorative gold rush motor vehicle license 02 plates; and providing for an effective date." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 28.10.161(a) is amended to read: 05  (a) The department, upon registering a vehicle, shall issue the owner one fully 06 reflectorized registration plate for a [TRAILER OR A MOTORCYCLE AND TWO 07 FULLY REFLECTORIZED REGISTRATION PLATES FOR EVERY OTHER] 08 vehicle. Except as specifically provided in AS 28.10.181, the plate [OR PLATES] 09 must remain with the vehicle as long as the vehicle is subject to registration under this 10 chapter. 11 * Sec. 2. AS 28.10.161(b) is amended to read: 12  (b) Every passenger vehicle registration plate, except as specifically provided 13 in AS 28.10.181, shall have displayed upon it 14  (1) a design and color that commemorates the gold rush period in

01 the state, including the Alaska flag, as determined by the commissioner in 02 consultation with the Alaska Gold Rush Centennial Task Force [THE ALASKA 03 FLAG]; 04  (2) [THE TRADITIONAL COLORS OF YELLOW-GOLD AND BLUE; 05  (3)] the slogan "The Last Frontier"; 06  (3) [(4)] the registration number assigned to the vehicle for which it is 07 issued; 08  (4) [(5)] the name of this state, which may be abbreviated; and 09  (5) [(6)] the registration year number or expiration date for which time 10 it is validated; the registration year number or expiration date may be part of the 11 license plate or contained on a suitable sticker or tab device issued by the department. 12 * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect January 1, 1996.
