01 "An Act requiring that an owner's motor vehicle liability insurance policy used                                         
02 as proof of financial responsibility designate by description or appropriate                                            
03 reference the motor vehicles it covers; and providing for an effective date."                                           
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1.  AS 28.20.630 is amended to read:                                                                       
06  Sec. 28.20.630.  DEFINITIONS.  In this chapter, unless the context otherwise                                          
07 requires,                                                                                                               
08   (1)  "judgment" means a judgment that is final by expiration without                                                 
09 appeal of the time within which an appeal may be taken, or final by affirmation on                                      
10 appeal, given by a court of a state or of the United States, upon a cause of action                                     
11 arising out of the ownership, maintenance, or use of a vehicle of a type subject to                                     
12 registration under the laws of this state, for damages, including damages for care and                                  
13 loss of services, because of bodily injury to or death of a person, or for damages                                      
14 because of injury to or destruction of property, including the loss of use of property,                                 

01 or upon a cause of action on an agreement of settlement for such damages;                                               
02   (2)  "proof of financial responsibility" means an owner's motor vehicle                                              
03 liability policy that designates by description or appropriate reference the motor                                     
04 vehicles that it covers [ALL VEHICLES OWNED BY THE PERSON THAT ARE                                                     
05 SUBJECT TO REGISTRATION IN THIS STATE], or if the person does not own a                                                 
06 vehicle, proof required under AS 28.20.390.                                                                             
07    * Sec. 2.  APPLICABILITY.  This Act applies to proof of financial responsibility required                            
08 on or after the effective date of this Act.                                                                             
09    * Sec. 3.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1994.
