01 "An Act relating to the retirement rights of temporary hourly employees hired                                           
02 by the legislature."                                                                                                    
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 24.10.060(e) is amended to read:                                                                    
05  (e)  The permanent interim committees of the legislature, the rules committees,                                       
06 the president of the senate, or the speaker of the house of representatives, as                                         
07 appropriate, may authorize the employment of hourly employees.  Hourly employees                                        
08 are subject to the salary schedule set out in AS 39.27.011.  Temporary hourly                                          
09 employees are not covered by AS 14.25 or AS 39.35 and [GENERAL STATE                                                   
10 LAWS REGARDING RETIREMENT BUT] are not entitled to receive leave benefits.
