01 "An Act relating to the use of historical documents in public schools; and                                              
02 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 14.03.090 is amended to read:                                                                       
05  Sec. 14.03.090.  SECTARIAN OR DENOMINATIONAL DOCTRINES                                                                
06 PROHIBITED.  Partisan, sectarian, or denominational doctrines may not be advocated                                      
07 in a public school during the hours the school is in session.  A teacher or school board                                
08 violating this section may not receive public money.  Nothing in this section                                          
09 prohibits the use of historical documents that contain religious references, as a                                       
10 part of a classroom curriculum.                                                                                        
11    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect July 4, 1994.
