01 "An Act prohibiting the sale of certain studded tires or the sale of certain studs                                      
02 to be installed in tires; and providing for an effective date."                                                         
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 28.35.155 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:                                            
05  (c)  A person may not sell a studded tire or sell studs for installation in a tire                                    
06 if the sale is conducted as a part of the person's business and the studs sold or the                                   
07 studs in the studded tire have a hardness level higher than six as determined under the                                 
08 Mohs scale of hardness.  In this subsection, "business" has the meaning given in                                        
09 AS 43.70.110.                                                                                                           
10    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 1993.
