00HOUSE BILL NO. 146                                                                                                      
01 "An Act making a special appropriation to the Department of Law to pay a                                                
02 judgment entered into in the case of Southeast Conference v. Hickel; and                                                
03 providing for an effective date."                                                                                       
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1.  An amount equal to the sum of $974,945, and the interest accruing on that                              
06 sum at a rate of 10.5 percent beginning June 25, 1992, and ending on the date that the                                  
07 judgment is paid, but not to exceed $1,080,000, is appropriated from the general fund to the                            
08 Department of Law for payment of the judgment awarded on February 6, 1993, and interest                                 
09 on it in the case of Southeast Conference v. Hickel, Case No. 1JU-91-1608 CIV.                                          
10    * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
