00HOUSE BILL NO. 120 01 "An Act changing the date by which jury lists must be prepared; requiring the 02 use of the list of the current year's permanent fund dividend applicants in 03 preparing the jury list; and changing the date by which state departments must 04 submit certain lists to the Alaska Court System." 05 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 06 * Section 1. AS 09.20.050(a) is amended to read: 07  (a) At such times as need may require, but not later than November 30 08 [MARCH 15] of each year, the administrative director of courts shall prepare for each 09 judicial district a list of the names of the residents of the district who are qualified by 10 law for jury service. If the superior court is located in different cities in the same 11 judicial district, the administrative director shall prepare for each location of the court 12 a list of the names of the qualified residents of that portion of the district considered 13 to be appropriate. 14 * Sec. 2. AS 09.20.050(b) is amended to read:

01  (b) The jury list shall be based on a list prepared by the Department of 02 Revenue of all persons who filed an application for a distribution of Alaska permanent 03 fund income under AS 43.23 during the current [PRECEDING] calendar year that 04 shows an Alaskan address, and of all persons who volunteer for jury duty under (d) 05 of this section. If considered necessary by the administrative director of the Alaska 06 Court System, the jury list shall incorporate a list prepared by the Department of 07 Public Safety of all persons who hold a valid Alaska driver's license. The departments 08 shall submit their respective lists to the Alaska Court System not later than 09 September 30 [JANUARY 15] of each year. To the extent that it is available, the 10 departments shall include on the lists they submit the following information for each 11 person: first name, middle initial, and last name; mailing address, including the zip 12 code; and birth date. The lists shall be recorded on magnetic tape compatible with 13 Alaska Court System data processing equipment.
