00HOUSE BILL NO. 101 01 "An Act relating to the adoption of the National Electrical Code and the 02 National Electrical Safety Code." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04 * Section 1. AS 18.60.580 is repealed and reenacted to read: 05  Sec. 18.60.580. MINIMUM ELECTRICAL STANDARDS. Immediately after 06 the American National Standards Institute approves a new, published edition of the 07 National Electrical Code or a new, published edition of the National Electrical Safety 08 Code, the Department of Labor shall, by regulation, adopt the most recent codes to 09 constitute the minimum electrical safety standards of the state. 10 * Sec. 2. AS 18.60.590(a) is amended to read: 11  (a) The department may by regulation adopt amendments to the [1990] 12 National Electrical Code as approved and issued by the American National Standards 13 Institute. 14 * Sec. 3. Notwithstanding the amendment to AS 18.60.580 made by sec. 1 of this Act,

01 until the Department of Labor adopts a regulation establishing an electrical code and an 02 electrical safety code for the state, the 1993 published edition of the National Electrical Code 03 (ANSI NFPA) approved by the American National Standards Institute on August 14, 1992, 04 and the 1993 published edition of the National Electrical Safety Code (ANSI C2-1993) 05 approved by the American National Standards Institute on July 10, 1992, constitute the 06 minimum electrical safety standards of the state.
