00                             SENATE BILL NO. 113                                                                         
01 "An Act relating to national board certification for public school teachers."                                           
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1. AS 14.20.010 is amended by adding new subsections to read:                                            
04            (b)  A public school shall display in a prominent location the name of each                                  
05       teacher who teaches at that school who has achieved national board certification.                                 
06            (c)  It is the goal of the legislature that by the year 2025 at least four percent of                        
07       public school teachers in the state will have achieved national board certification.                              
08            (d)  In this section, "national board certification" means certification by the                              
09       National Board for Professional Teaching Standards.                                                               
10    * Sec. 2. AS 14.20.010(c) is repealed July 1, 2026.
