00 Enrolled HR 6 01 Expressing support and appreciation for the National Native American Veterans Memorial. 02 _______________ 03 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES:  04 WHEREAS the National Native American Veterans Memorial, to be located on the 05 grounds of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C., 06 with a design concept titled "Warriors' Circle of Honor," is scheduled to open on Veterans 07 Day 2020; and 08 WHEREAS Native Americans across the United States, including American Indians, 09 Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians, have a long, proud, and distinguished tradition of 10 military service in the armed forces of the United States; and 11 WHEREAS Native Americans have historically served in the armed forces of the 12 United States in numbers that far exceed their representation in the population of the United 13 States; and 14 WHEREAS Native American veterans have been decorated for valor and 15 distinguished service in the armed forces of the United States; and 16 WHEREAS Native Americans have lost their lives in service to the armed forces of 01 the United States and for the cause of peace; and 02 WHEREAS past and present military service of Native Americans exemplifies the 03 bravery and courage that defines American patriotism; and 04 WHEREAS the National Native American Veterans Memorial will honor the military 05 service of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians, from the Revolutionary 06 War to the present, and across all branches of service; and 07 WHEREAS the National Museum of the American Indian, which has a mission to 08 advance knowledge and understanding of Native American cultures, including art, history, 09 language, and the contributions that Native Americans have made to the United States, is an 10 extraordinary site and an ideal location on which to establish the National Native American 11 Veterans Memorial; and 12 WHEREAS the National Native American Veterans Memorial will further the 13 purposes of the National Museum of the American Indian by giving all Americans the 14 opportunity to learn about the proud and courageous tradition of service of Native Americans 15 in the armed forces of the United States; 16 BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives expresses its profound support 17 and appreciation for the establishment of the National Native American Veterans Memorial, 18 to be located on the grounds of the Smithsonian's National Museum of the American Indian, 19 to honor the military service of American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians, 20 from the Revolutionary War to the present, and across all branches of service.
