00 CS FOR HOUSE BILL NO. 262(L&C) 01 "An Act relating to temporary courtesy licenses for certain nonresident professionals; 02 and relating to the Department of Commerce, Community, and Economic 03 Development." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05  * Section 1. AS 08.01.063 is amended by adding new subsections to read: 06 (e) The department shall prepare an annual report that describes, for the 07 previous fiscal year, information on temporary courtesy licenses issued under this 08 section, including 09 (1) expedited application procedures; 10 (2) progress made toward implementing regulations for the licenses, 11 changes to regulations made to accommodate the needs of military spouses, and any 12 plans for future regulations; 13 (3) the number and type of the licenses that have been issued; and 14 (4) the department's efforts to inform each board authorized to issue a 01 temporary courtesy license under this section and the military community in the state 02 about the licenses. 03 (f) The department shall submit the report prepared under (e) of this section to 04 the Joint Armed Services Committee on or before the first day of March each year. In 05 addition, the department shall consolidate the two most recent reports and submit a 06 biennial report to the legislature on or before the first day of March during the first 07 regular session of each legislature. The department shall deliver a copy of the biennial 08 report to the senate secretary and the chief clerk of the house of representatives and 09 notify the legislature that the report is available. 10 (g) The department shall annually produce and distribute to each board 11 authorized to issue a temporary courtesy license under this section informational 12 materials for the purpose of improving the board's knowledge of the licenses, the 13 application process, and best practices in providing applicant support. The department 14 shall encourage the boards to designate a single employee to serve as the point of 15 contact for public information and inquiries related to temporary courtesy licenses for 16 military spouses.
