01 Relating to benefits for public assistance programs administered by the Department of Health                            
02 and Social Services; and providing for an effective date.

04    * Section 1. AS 47.05.080(a) is repealed and reenacted to read:                                                    
05            (a)  Except for overpayments recovered under AS 47.07 that cover the value of                                
06       services paid from federal sources, benefit overpayments collected by the department                              
07       in administering public assistance programs under AS 47.05.010 shall be remitted to                               
08       the Department of Revenue under AS 37.10.050(a).                                                                
09    * Sec. 2. The uncodified law of the State of Alaska is amended by adding a new section to                          
10 read:                                                                                                                   
11       APPLICABILITY. This Act applies to the recovery of benefit overpayments for                                       
12 public assistance programs administered by the Department of Health and Social Services                                 
13 under AS 47.05.010, regardless of whether the overpayments occurred before, on, or after                                
14 July 1, 2016.                                                                                                           
15    * Sec. 3. This Act takes effect July 1, 2016.
