01 "An Act relating to the practice of public accounting; and relating to rules of                                         
02 professional conduct for the profession of public accounting."                                                          
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1. AS 08.04.680(15) is amended to read:                                                                  
05                 (15)  "practice of public accounting" means the offering to perform or                                  
06       the performance as a person holding a license, practice privilege, or permit under this                           
07       chapter of a service involving the use of accounting or auditing skills for a client; in                      
08       this paragraph,                                                                                                   
09                      (A)  "accounting or auditing skills" includes preparing financial                              
10            statements, issuing reports on financial statements, furnishing management                                   
11            services, furnishing financial advisory services, providing consulting services,                             
12            preparing tax returns, advising on tax matters, or consulting on tax matters;                                
13                      (B)  "client" means a person who engages a person licensed,                                    
14            privileged, or permitted under this chapter to engage in the practice of                                 
01            public accounting to perform a professional service involving the use of                                 
02            accounting or auditing skills, or a person for whom a professional service                               
03            involving the use of accounting or auditing skills is performed; "client"                                
04            does not include a partnership, limited liability company, corporation, or                               
05            other legal entity that employs an individual licensed under this chapter                                
06            when the partnership, limited liability company, corporation, or other                                   
07            legal entity is employing the individual to perform a professional service                               
08            involving the use of accounting or auditing skills;                                                      
09    * Sec. 2. AS 08.04.080 is repealed.
