00 HOUSE BILL NO. 368 01 "An Act relating to a mandatory exemption for certain residences owned by a religious 02 organization." 03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 04  * Section 1. AS 29.45.030(b) is amended to read: 05 (b) In (a) of this section, "property used exclusively for religious purposes" 06 includes the following property owned by a religious organization: 07 (1) the residence of [AN EDUCATOR IN A PRIVATE RELIGIOUS 08 OR PAROCHIAL SCHOOL OR] a bishop, pastor, priest, rabbi, minister, or religious 09 order of a recognized religious organization; [FOR PURPOSES OF THIS 10 PARAGRAPH, "MINISTER" MEANS AN INDIVIDUAL WHO IS 11 (A) ORDAINED, COMMISSIONED, OR LICENSED AS A 12 MINISTER ACCORDING TO STANDARDS OF THE RELIGIOUS 13 ORGANIZATION FOR ITS MINISTERS; AND 14 (B) EMPLOYED BY THE RELIGIOUS ORGANIZATION 01 TO CARRY OUT A MINISTRY OF THAT RELIGIOUS 02 ORGANIZATION;] 03 (2) a structure, its furniture, and its fixtures used solely for public 04 worship, charitable purposes, religious administrative offices, religious education, or a 05 nonprofit hospital; 06 (3) lots required by local ordinance for parking near a structure defined 07 in (2) of this subsection.
