01 "An Act relating to certain grants awarded by the Department of Environmental                                           
02 Conservation."                                                                                                          
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 46.03.030(e) is amended to read:                                                                  
05            (e)  A grant under this section to a municipality for a project funded by an                                 
06       appropriation made by the legislature                                                                             
07                 (1)  before July 1, 1994, may not exceed 50 percent of the eligible costs                               
08       of the project;                                                                                                   
09                 (2)  after July 1, 1994, may not exceed                                                                 
10                      (A)  85 percent of the eligible costs for a municipality with a                                    
11            population of 1,000 persons or less;                                                                         
12                      (B)  70 percent of the eligible costs for a municipality with a                                    
13            population of 1,001 to 10,000 [5,000] persons; and                                                       
14                      (C)  50 percent of the eligible costs for a municipality with a                                    
01            population greater than 10,000 [5,000] persons; however, if a municipality                               
02            with a population greater than 10,000 [5,000] persons seeks a grant for a                                
03            project that relates to a solid waste processing or disposal system that                                     
04            incorporates resource recovery, the department may provide a grant for up to                                 
05            60 percent of the eligible costs of the project.
