01 "An Act relating to hunting licenses and tags for nonresident members of the military                                   
02 service or the United States Coast Guard and their dependents; and providing for an                                     
03 effective date."                                                                                                        
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1. AS 16.05.340(d) is amended to read:                                                                   
06            (d)  Members of the military service or the United States Coast Guard on                                 
07       active duty who are permanently stationed in the state, and their dependents, who do                              
08       not qualify as residents under AS 16.05.415, may obtain special nonresident military                              
09       hunting [SMALL GAME] and sport fishing licenses at the rates for resident hunting                             
10       and sport fishing licenses. A person who obtains a special nonresident military                               
11       hunting license under this subsection [, BUT] may not take a big game animal for                          
12       which a tag is required under (a)(16) of this section without previously purchasing                           
13       a [REGULAR NONRESIDENT HUNTING LICENSE AND A] numbered,                                                           
14       nontransferable appropriate tag, issued at the resident [ONE-HALF OF THE                                      
01       NONRESIDENT] rate, under (a)(16) [(a)(15)] of this section.                                                   
02    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect January 1, 2009.
