01 "An Act eliminating the limit on compassionate gifts that a legislator or legislative                                   
02 employee may solicit, accept, or receive under the Legislative Ethics Act; and providing                                
03 for an effective date."                                                                                                 
04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
05    * Section 1. AS 24.60.075(c) is amended to read:                                                                   
06            (c)  [A LEGISLATOR OR LEGISLATIVE EMPLOYEE MAY NOT                                                           
07       SOLICIT, ACCEPT, OR RECEIVE, DIRECTLY OR INDIRECTLY,                                                              
08       COMPASSIONATE GIFTS WORTH LESS THAN $250 THAT IN A CALENDAR                                                       
09       YEAR AGGREGATE TO $250 OR MORE IN VALUE AND ARE FROM THE                                                          
10       SAME PERSON.] A legislator or legislative employee who receives a compassionate                                   
11       gift, directly or indirectly, shall disclose to the committee the name of the gift's source                       
12       and the value of the gift within 30 days after receipt.                                                           
13    * Sec. 2. This Act takes effect immediately under AS 01.10.070(c).
