00 SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 1 01 Establishing a Senate Special Committee on World Trade and State/Federal Relations. 02 BE IT RESOLVED BY THE SENATE: 03 WHEREAS world trade is of increasing importance to the economy of the state; and 04 WHEREAS legislation enacted by the federal government has far reaching effect on 05 the economy of the state; and 06 WHEREAS there is renewed interest in the Congress of the United States in 07 exploring the ramifications of federal legislation on the states and their economies; and 08 WHEREAS the legislature should take an active role in exploring opportunities to 09 promote world trade and assist the Congress in understanding the effect of federal legislation 10 on the state's economy; 11 BE IT RESOLVED by the Senate that a Senate Special Committee on World Trade 12 and State/Federal Relations is established to study issues relating to world trade and 13 state/federal relations; and be it 14 FURTHER RESOLVED that the president of the Senate shall determine the number 15 of senators to be members of the committee and shall appoint the members and designate a 16 member to chair the committee; and be it 01 FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate Special Committee on World Trade and 02 State/Federal Relations may meet during and between sessions of the Twenty-Fourth Alaska 03 State Legislature and is terminated on the convening of the First Session of the Twenty-Fifth 04 Alaska State Legislature.
