01 "An Act relating to false caller identification."                                                                       
02 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
03    * Section 1.  AS 45.45 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
04            Sec. 45.45.940.  False caller identification.  (a)  A person may not knowingly                             
05       insert false information into a caller identification system.                                                     
06            (b)  A person who knowingly inserts false information into a caller                                          
07       identification system is guilty of a class B misdemeanor.                                                         
08            (c)  In this section,                                                                                        
09                 (1)  "caller" means a person who places a call by a telephone or over a                                 
10       telephone line, even if the person begins the call on a computer;                                                 
11                 (2)  "caller identification system" means a listing of a caller's name,                                 
12       telephone number, or name and telephone number that is shown to a recipient of a call                             
13       when the recipient answers;                                                                                       
14                 (3)  "insert" means insert by voice communication, by written                                           
15       communication, or by typing into a computer;                                                                      
01                 (4)  "knowingly" has the meaning given in AS 11.81.900.                                                 
02    * Sec. 2.  AS 45.50.471(b) is amended by adding a new paragraph to read:                                           
03                 (51)  violating AS 45.45.940 (false caller identification).
