01 "An Act making a special appropriation for a study of recipients of welfare and                                         
02 Medicaid; and providing for an effective date."                                                                         
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  The sum of $200,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the Legislative                         
05 Council for a contract to conduct a sociological and demographic study of recipients of state                           
06 welfare and Medicaid programs to determine how and why they became recipients of welfare                                
07 and Medicaid services.                                                                                                  
08    * Sec. 2.  The appropriation made by this Act lapses June 30, 2004.                                                
09    * Sec. 3.  This Act takes effect July 1, 2002.
