01 "An Act relating to the effective date of a municipal manager plan that has been                                        
02 adopted and to the effective date of the repeal of a municipal manager plan."                                           
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 29.20.480(a) is amended to read:                                                                  
05            (a)  If a manager plan is approved, the governing body shall, within 60 days,                                
06       adopt the plan by ordinance or resolution.  The manager plan takes effect on the day                          
07       after the last day of the term of the mayor in office on the date the plan is                                 
08       adopted by the governing body.                                                                                
09    * Sec. 2.  AS 29.20.520 is amended to read:                                                                        
10            Sec. 29.20.520.  Repeal of manager plan.  A municipality may repeal a                                      
11       manager plan by following the procedures under AS 29.20.460 - 29.20.480 for                                       
12       adoption of a manager plan, except the question shall be whether the manager plan                                 
13       should be repealed.  Within 60 days after certification of the election approving repeal                          
14       of a manager plan, the governing body shall enact provisions for the reorganization of                            
01       the municipal executive and administrative functions.  The reorganization provisions                          
02       take effect on the day after the last day of the term of the mayor in office on the                           
03       date the provisions are enacted.
