01 "An Act authorizing the commissioner of fish and game to award grants for habitat                                       
02 restoration, access, or enhancement projects; and providing for an effective date."                                     
03 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA:                                                                
04    * Section 1.  AS 16.05 is amended by adding a new section to read:                                                 
05            Sec. 16.05.085.  Grant authority.  The commissioner may award grants from                                  
06       federal funds, other than funds received under the federal Pittman - Robertson and                                
07       Dingell - Johnson/Wallop - Breaux programs, for habitat restoration, access, or                                   
08       enhancement projects.  Grant programs authorized under this section are at least                                  
09       annually subject to approval by the Board of Fisheries or the Board of Game,                                      
10       whichever is appropriate. The commissioner may adopt regulations to implement this                                
11       section.                                                                                                          
12   * Sec. 2.  This Act takes effect July 1, 2001.
