00 HOUSE BILL NO. 90 am 01 "An Act changing the date that the legislature convenes in the years following 02 a gubernatorial election; changing the date that the term of a member of the 03 legislature begins in the years following a gubernatorial election." 04 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF ALASKA: 05 * Section 1. AS 24.05.080 is amended to read: 06  Sec. 24.05.080. TERMS. The term of each member of the legislature begins 07 on the second Monday in January following a presidential election year; however, 08 following a gubernatorial election year, the term of each member begins on the third 09 Tuesday [MONDAY] in January. The term of representatives is two years, and the 10 term of senators is four years. One-half of the senators shall be elected every two 11 years. 12 * Sec. 2. AS 24.05.090 is amended to read: 13  Sec. 24.05.090. REGULAR SESSIONS. The legislature shall convene at the 14 capital each year on the second Monday in January at 10:00 a.m.; however, following 01 a gubernatorial election year, the legislature shall convene on the third Tuesday 02 [MONDAY] in January at 10:00 a.m. Except as provided in this section, each 03 legislature shall have a duration of two years and shall consist of a "First Regular 04 Session," which shall meet in the odd-numbered years, and a "Second Regular 05 Session," which shall meet in the even-numbered years, and any special session or 06 sessions that [WHICH] the governor or legislature may find necessary to call.
